If you want to keep a long-term relationship with your new best friend – epilator, then you need to take care of it a lot. Always clean your discarded hair from the epilator because leaving discarded hair can cause it to clog. This obstruction may cause the motor to burn out so always clean your device after use.
1. Disassemble Your Epilator
Before cleaning your epilator, first, you need to turn it off. After that, unplug it and take it apart. Remove all the caps and attachments so that you can easily clean every surface well. This is the point where you will see how many hairs it removes. There are a lot of hairs clogged behind the tweezer roller and in between attachment. The hairs are tackier when you used an epilator in the shower.
2. Use a brush to dust off hair
Almost all the epilators come with a small brush so that you can clean your epilator. It can help you to dust off the loose hairs from all parts of the epilator. To get rid of the hairs, you can also use a hair dryer to clean the epilator parts. Although the brushes are very effective as it can get into the crannies and nooks easily and clean everything.
If you have a waterproof epilator, clean it with running water to loosen the hair and get them out. Some people like to soak the tweezer head in dishwater to clean it. Don’t ever soak the tweezer head in dishwater but can do with the attachments. The last step is to make sure that you rinse them through with water so that no soap left inside and then shake the excess water off.
4. Wipe with Rubbing Alcohol
To make your epilator disinfect and clean, take a cotton ball and dip it in rubbing alcohol and wipe it over the tweezers and all the attachments. This will kill the bacteria that can cause skin irritation. If you don’t have rubbing alcohol, you can use vodka for this purpose.
5. Air Dry
The last step is to make sure that all the part of the epilator is thoroughly dry. Take a clean towel and put it on a shelf and place all the epilator parts on it to air dry. At this stage, air drying is best because cotton balls may get caught in the tweezers while cleaning. After an hour or two, check that your epilator is completely dry or not.
As you know cleaning your epilator is very easy and it hardly takes any time at all. The steps mentioned above will keep your epilator hygienic and will keep it running for much longer.
